IRON FILTRATION
Stop iron stains before they take over.
Iron filtration helps remove iron, manganese, and sulfur issues from well water so your home has cleaner water, fewer stains, better taste, and less damage to plumbing and appliances.
Single-system household flow rate available up to 21 GPM depending on the system and water conditions.
THE PROBLEM
Iron in well water shows up everywhere.
High iron content can create rusty color, metallic taste, staining, odor, clogged pipes, appliance damage, and problems for the water softener. A good iron filtration system treats the iron before it creates bigger issues.
Rust stains
Iron can stain sinks, tubs, toilets, fixtures, laundry, and tile.
Metallic taste
Water can taste unpleasant when iron levels are too high.
Odor issues
Sulfur and H2S can cause rotten-egg smell and black oxidation.
Equipment damage
Iron can foul softeners, clog pipes, and shorten appliance life.
HOW IRON FILTRATION WORKS
Oxidize it. Filter it. Backwash it.
Iron filtration changes dissolved iron into particles that can be captured by filter media. The system then backwashes to flush collected iron from the media bed.
Oxidation
Ferrous iron is converted into ferric iron, making it possible to filter out.
Filtration
Catalytic media traps iron particles, manganese, and sulfur-related contaminants.
Backwashing
The system reverses water flow to clean the media and flush trapped iron away.
BENEFITS
Cleaner well water and better protection for the home.
The right iron filtration system can improve the water before it reaches plumbing, fixtures, appliances, clothing, and the softener.
Helps prevent rusty staining on fixtures, sinks, tubs, toilets, and laundry.
Helps reduce iron and sulfur-related taste and smell issues.
Iron filtration helps prevent iron fouling inside the water softener.
Helps reduce iron clogging, black oxidation, and equipment wear.
TYPES OF IRON FILTRATION
Different iron problems need different treatment.
The best option depends on how much iron is present, whether the iron is dissolved or oxidized, whether sulfur is present, and what the full water test shows.
Particle filters
Useful for visible iron particles, sediment, and larger material, but not always enough for dissolved iron.
Oxidation filters
Use air, chlorine, ozone, or other oxidants to convert dissolved iron into filterable particles.
Aeration systems
Add air to the water so iron oxidizes and can be filtered out of the water supply.
Low iron levels
Water softeners may handle low iron levels, but higher iron should be treated before the softener.
Chemical feed
Injects oxidizing solution, then filters iron after it changes form.
Birm filters
Birm media can oxidize and filter iron when the water chemistry and pH are right.
IRONBREAKER III
A natural solution for iron and H2S.
The Ironbreaker III uses a patented oxidation process to remove iron and H2S without harsh chemicals, air compressors, aerators, or external venturis.
High iron and sulfur water
Fresh, clean, odor-free water throughout the home, with fewer chemical feed system complications.
HOW IRONBREAKER III WORKS
It uses air, media, and regeneration to keep filtering.
Air pocket
The system stores a bubble of air compressed by well pressure inside the media tank.
Oxidation
As water passes through the air, iron or H2S converts into particles.
Media capture
Catalytic filter media traps the particles while clean water continues through the home.
Backwash
The system backwashes, removes trapped iron, and restores the air pocket.
SYSTEM OPTIONS
Build the treatment around the water test.
Some wells need iron filtration only. Others may need sediment filtration, a softener, chlorination, retention tanks, UV disinfection, or ozone sanitizing depending on the water quality.
Water analysis
Identify iron, sulfur, hardness, sediment, pH, and other treatment needs.
Before the softener
Treat iron before it fouls resin and shortens softener performance.
Optional ozone
An ozone generator option can sanitize the Ironbreaker III during regeneration.
Local service
Simple can explain the system, install it, and support it after the job is complete.
SIMPLE PROCESS
Test the water before choosing the filter.
Test
Find the iron level, sulfur issue, hardness, pH, and other water conditions.
Explain
Review whether the home needs iron filtration, softening, or additional treatment.
Install
Install the system that fits the water chemistry and household demand.
Maintain
Support the system with local service and clear maintenance guidance.
