
Simple Water Softener Quick Reference Guide
Simply Shut Off When you have a leak inside the house
- Locate the shutoff, which is on the plumbing line going to the water softener. It has a single handle on the line. This handle can be turned to shut off the flow of the water going into the house.
Simply Shut Off When you are going on vacation
- Locate the shutoff, which is on the plumbing line going to the water softener. It has a single handle on the line. This handle can be turned to shut off the flow of the water going into the house.
- Go into the house and turn on a couple of faucets to let the pressure off.
- If you return from vacation and salt looks chunky, you can break it up with a broom handle.
(Remember there is a plastic plate about 6 inches from the bottom of the tank on the entire bottom.) Or if the water is discolored from it sitting while you’re on vacation, you can run a regeneration cycle. (Hit Regen it will light up blue, press and hold the regen button until it kicks into the cycle)
By-pass the Water Softener

(Water Softener is a tall tank that has a valve with a clock on it. You may have another tall tank with no display/clock on top and that is your whole house filter.) There are two red valves on the backside of the units; they point in the direction water flows.
TO BY-PASS
- As you are standing in front of the unit, reach over valve turn both valves a quarter turn clockwise so that skinny ends point towards each other.
- This will divert water around the softener.
- If you feel there is any issue with the water softener, go ahead and put it on by-pass.
- Note: These valves only turn one way, so you can’t make a mistake.
Change the Time on a Clack Valve
- Stand in front of the unit.
- Press/tap any button (lights up blue on newer units).
- Press the Clock button.
- Use Up/Down arrows to set the correct hour (make sure AM/PM is correct).
- Press Clock/Next to move to minutes.
- Use arrows to set minutes.
- Press Next again. The valve will light blue. Finished.
