A Water Softener in San Antonio is an insurance for your home

A Water Softener is an insurance for your home in San Antonio

We all have an insurance, from Health, Auto, Home, right? so, make sure to have it for all the appliances that use water in your house and everything that the water touches in your home if you don’t have a good Water Softener. In San Antonio and surrounding areas, a home without a softener will suffer the ugly consequences. A Water Softener is one of the most important appliances you will own, it is like an insurance policy for everything dealing with water in your house.

A good water softener protects the plumbing in your house and keeps the pipes from becoming full of limestone. The first appliance the water softener protects is the hot water heater. An average cost for a hot water heater is $1,800 not to mention you may end up with a cold shower. Have no water softener with the water as hard as it is in San Antonio you will need to drain your hot water heater at least twice a year. If you have a tankless make sure you read your warranty since most companies void your warranty if the water is more than 10.5 grains hard if there is no softener. Your hot water heater uses approximately 25% more electricity when there is no softener.

The expensive appliances that we all buy today like the upgraded washing machines, refrigerators, dishwashers, coffee machines and steam machines all have a longer life with a water softener and work more efficiently. Even the bathrooms with the expensive faucets, shower doors, upgraded vanities keep their spa quality looks. Clothes, linens, and towels are also expensive and you want to keep them looking newer brighter and softer for a longer time period.

Hair, skin and laundry are so much better with a water softener, your kids will have bubbles and more bubbles and there is significant savings in soaps and cleaning products. Many people buys a low-grade water softener or something that works intermittently. More over people think because the unit is using salt it is working and is Not always true. Buy a water softener that has quality parts and you will be problem free for many years, also look for water Softeners with quality parts can be repaired. Quality water softeners set up correctly and sized properly will be much more cost efficient over the years.

With the right water softener you are protecting more than you could think, so give us a call and let us help to protect and preserve what you have worked so hard for. At Simple Water Softeners we feel everyone in San Antonio and surrounding areas should have a quality softener with the substantial savings. Water Softener is a must in San Antonio area

You live in San Antonio or surrounding area you should know that you need a water softener. Just moved in from another state, wondering why your skin is so dry, why your hair is out of control, No soap lather, Scream about the dishes in the dishwasher, yes it works just hard water.
The benefits of having a water softener in your home include extended life of your plumbing and appliances, softer, healthier skin and hair, reduced water spotting and scale build up in your sinks, tubs, and tiles, and so much more. Water softeners remove calcium, magnesium, and other minerals contained in hard water to make it softer and better for your home.
However, before purchasing a water softener for your home, research is the key to aid you in making the right choice for your home and family.
  1. The first step is finding out if your house is plumbed for the water softener. Most builders today are automatically including the plumbing in new builds, if no plumbing is available it can be installed find the loop, quick phone call to Simple, one phone call you will learn a whole lot. Take 5 minutes get a little educated, hear the price and then do your research.
  2. Research the valve, tank and resin and where it is made. Do not be fooled Assembled in America and Expected maintenance.
  3. Decide if you want just a water softener, or do you want whole house filtration, reverse osmosis. Get your family the water you want. (Water softener removes the hardness of the water. Whole house filtration gives you filtered water to every faucet, it is some form of carbon removing chlorine herbicides , pesticides and organics. A reverse osmosis is put at kitchen sink, gives you bottle quality water filtering out 98% of everything. No microplastics and no more contributing to the landfills with plastic.
  4. There is a correct way and a wrong way to be installed. When installed properly you will know your family is getting the best water possible. Hire a Certified technician.
It’s best to have a qualified and trusted water softener professional help with your water softener needs and Simple Water Softeners will gladly be of assistance.

Water Softener that uses salt or the salt-less system.

You read about both and it sounds like why am I carrying those bags of salt?

Be careful do your research completely and do not stop at what you want to hear, first let’s explain how they work.

A softener that uses salt has an ion exchange process, this means as the water passes through the resin one calcium ion is exchanged for one sodium. The calcium sticks to the resin bead and does not enter your plumbing coming into your house. When the resin beads are coated in calcium and can no longer hold any more calcium the unit goes into regeneration. This is when the unit pulls the brine water into the water softener, the brine water makes it to where the calcium lets go of the resin bead and is washed down the drain beside the softener to where only soft water has come into your house.

Usually a water softener will bring 20 grains per gallon the average in San Antonio down to a 1 or less per grain entering your house. Only soft water water enters into your house. During regeneration the resin beads are cleaned and should be able to go about a week before this process happens again usually in the middle of the night around 2 A.M.

A salt less system first is not a water softener, it is a water conditioner and it conditions the water, so the calcium and magnesium will not stick to your pipes it will help protect the plumbing in your house, the plumbing referring to your pipes. So, you must understand the calcium is coming into your house and the water coming into your house is not soft, it is hard water.

The calcium is in the water droplets and when they dry the white calcium is on the shower doors, the dishes in dishwasher, your hair and your laundry.  You have 20 grains per gallon hard coming into your house so, you will have 20 grains hard coming out of that shower head, into the dishwasher, washing machine, all the faucets. The reviews on these units are so good if you lived where the water is only 6 to 8 grains hard you might be able to write a descent review for it, but we live in San Antonio where we have some of the hardest water in the United States. Many areas of San Antonio are above 20 grains per gallon hard.

The benefits of having a water softener in your home here in San Antonio

The benefits of having a water softener in your home include extended life of your plumbing and appliances, softer, healthier skin and nails, reduced water spotting and scale build up in your sinks, tubs, and tiles, and so much more. Water softeners remove calcium, magnesium, and other minerals contained in hard water to make it softer and better for your home. However, before purchasing a water softener for your home, research is the key to aid you in making the right choice for your home. This also helps save you money in the long run because correctly choosing a system will run efficiently and economically for a long time.
  • First realize you need a system in San Antonio and surrounding areas that work off ion exchange. This means the unit uses salt or potassium. San Antonio has some of the hardest water in the United States. The saltless systems are a water conditioner, not a water softener they will not give you the results you are probably looking for. The ones that use salt will get rid of the white film on faucets, shower doors and glass. Your hair, skin and laundry is better. The calcium has been removed from the water coming into your house.
  • Also, making sure to purchase the right size system for your home depending on the flow rate and water hardness levels in your home
  • Water softener will remove calcium and magnesium. The hardness in the water. If you want to remove the disinfecting chemicals you will need a whole house filter in conjunction with the water softener. Again do your research.
  • Lastly, make sure you get high quality components, look at the valve, tank and resin.  Get a metered style valve for a more efficient system. Be sure you have options for who can work on valve.

It’s best to have a qualified and trusted water softener professional help with your water softener needs and Simple Water Softeners Co. will gladly be of assistance. If you want more information please give us a call at (210) 960-2555 or email us at lisa@simplewatersofteners.com.

Important Things to Consider When Looking For A New Water Softener.

When purchasing a new Water Softener here in San Antonio you have to look not only in price but on the system components. Here you will find some tips to ask before you buy your new water softener.

  • The Valve.  Who makes it? Where is it made? Who works on it? One specific company, multiple companies? Does it have proprietary parts? Are parts available? Who do I call for service? The warranty is? Remember the units from the big box stores are considered disposable units. Something goes wrong you dispose of and start over.
  • The Tank. Again who makes it? Where is it made? Warranty? If it has dual media separated by a plate is the plate under warranty? What kind of distributor does it have? Can it be replaced?
  • The Resin. There is different grades of resin. Higher the number, better it will tolerate chlorine you will get more life out of it. Cheaper resin is 5%, there is 8% which is standard for most companies. 10% is the better one.

These are the three major components of a water softener. Get high quality parts and a water softener should last 12 to 15 years. Softeners will need some maintenance along the way. The valve will need new pistons, seals and spacers or a spacer stack. That is why it is so important to know if proprietary parts because your options will be limited for service. Getting a valve off internet be sure some one in your area works on it and can get parts. Advertisements make a product look fantastic. Research it. Call around where you live I have a X valve seven years old can you work on? The sale of a Clack valve is prohibited on the internet. Clack valves must be purchased through a local dealer.  Buying from an authorized dealer you will be insured you are getting what you think you are getting. This rule applies to a lot on the internet in general.  The big box store softeners are considered disposable units when some thing goes wrong.

Resin will need to be changed. The amount of chlorine in your water will play a big factor in the time frame. Find out an approximate cost for this.

Simple Water Softeners uses only high-quality parts of world known companies in their specific industry. We order our softeners to Abel’s exact specifications. After working on them 22 years he has his opinion in what works and what does not. Our units are assembled here in San Antonio.

Come on over to showroom or give Simple a call, we will be happy to go over everything with you.

Have a soft, clean user-friendly water for your family in San Antonio with your whole house Filtration System Carbon Tanks.

If you want to substantially reduce or remove the disinfecting chemicals that water companies put in your water here in San Antonio we recommend you put a carbon tank before the softener. All municipal companies in San Antonio and south Texas adds Chlorine, Chloramine or Chlorite that are required by standards.

In the shower your skin absorbs the chlorine products while you are breathing them into your lungs. You are washing and cooking food, and giving pets water with chlorine products. So, for these reasons we suggest you put a carbon tank before the softener, we feel this is the correct way to substantially remove the disinfecting chemicals, odor and taste from your water to every faucet in your house.

Chloramines can be substantially or completely removed by upgrading carbon to catalytic carbon.  Simple Water Softeners installs a separate tank with one to one and a half cubic foot of carbon. Many companies will install a single 4” by 10” or 20” single carbon filter. Which you the home owner will have to change about every three months to have it functioning. The tank of carbon you will change the carbon about every two to three years.  The price to maintain will be close in cost, yet a whole lot less work for homeowner with the tank.

Unlike the individual carbon cartridges which can trap sediment and dirt causing pressure to drop the tank will not. They are available with an in- out valve which will filter the whole house. They can also be purchased with a W.S.1 valve to optimize the tank to its full capabilities. The media inside tank will be determined by the chemistry of your water. Chlorine is the number one thing that breaks down your resin, with the carbon removing the chlorine the resin life is extended.

Abel also believes having the carbon in a separate tank from the resin the overall cost of maintaining the unit will be cheaper in the long run, compared to a single unit tank with media combined. He has several other reasons why the double tank is his preference.  We will be happy to demonstrate at showroom and answer any questions you have regarding this. We encourage you to research and ask questions, so you can determine what chemistry of water you want for your family and then we will be there to help you get it. If your limited-on space we do carry the dual media tanks, check out our Premier Units.

If you want more information about how carbon tank can help your water please give us a call at (210) 960-2555 or email us at lisa@simplewatersofteners.com.
